Steel Cross Repaint for Saint Phillips United Church of Christ in Affton

Saint Philips United Church of Christ in Affton, Missouri, contacted us to tackle their unique painting request. Where we took on the revitalization of the church’s iconic metal cross. Our team’s dedication and meticulous attention to detail brought forth a remarkable transformation that will undoubtedly stand the test of time.

The first step was to ensure the safety of our team and the project’s success. After the initial site visit, it was determined that we would need to rent an 80’ – 85’ lift. This lift granted us secure access to various areas of the cross, allowing us to work with precision and care.

The project demanded an intricate approach to ensure the cross’s everlasting beauty. We began by thoroughly sanding and cleaning the steel cross with a wire wheel, removing the old layers of paint, loose rust, and debris. This step was essential to create a smooth canvas for the upcoming phases.

To ensure the first coat was going to be the strong foundation, we applied a single layer of amazing PSX Kem Kromik Primer. In doing so, this crucial step enhanced the adhesion of the layers of paint but also provided a protective barrier against the external elements that could compromise the cross’s durability.

The finishing touch included the application of 2 coats of Alkyd Urethane Enamel as the finish coat, we achieved a flawless and enduring finish. The color and sheen were thoughtfully chosen to match the existing color layout, harmonizing seamlessly with the church’s aesthetic.
