Built-In Bookshelves and Cabinetry can provide an amazing opportunity to accent your space in ways that other furniture simply can’t. As the focal point in the Kitchen, cabinetry can really set the tone for the design and aesthetics of your Kitchen. At the same time, Built-In Bookshelves also often serve as the main attraction of a room and thus have the ability to make or break the feel of your space.
We recently completed a project in Richmond Heights where we had the opportunity to paint both Kitchen Cabinets and Built-In bookshelves. Our customer’s had amazing design sense and allowed their cabinetry to match the accent color in their new stone countertops. This allowed for the base color of the countertops to stand out as an accent while letting the cabinetry remain part of the remaining color scheme to keep things elegant and simple and avoid the color scheme from being too busy.
In their Living Room, we had the opportunity to really make the Built-In Bookshelves pop by painting them a Navy Blue (Sherwin Williams- 9178 In The Navy). The lighting in this home allowed for such a dark color to not close the room off and was able to highlight the true nature of the blue. In poor lighting, very deep base colors can almost look black because the pigmentation is not brought out by the light. In painting the shelving such a bold blue, the contrast of the white woodwork, surrounding walls and ceiling really pop out at you in a way that they simply could not without the accent.
