Do have one of these old window returns that you just can’t tolerate looking at, but don’t know what to do with it. Patching and painting it doesn’t seem like the solution, but no other solution comes to mind either. Check out this option that’s very simple, but gets that unsightly return cleaned up so you can start enjoying the sights on the other side if window.
Old Window Restoration Process
For this project, I added solid panels to sides and top, casing around the exterior, and finished it off with a small trim moulding up against the window itself. A little spackle to fill nail holes, some caulk, spot prime with 2 coats of Interior semi-gloss paint and Voilà!
For a customer in south St. Louis city, next to Corondelet Park. This particular small window took approximately a half a day, start to finish.
